Professional Development

Create a professional development course for faculty and staff to enhance methodologies, skills, and practices related to teaching and learning. Use the following page to create your own PD course.

Setup:

Initial steps:

  • Create a Perusall course for your PD or use our pre-made template. You can also copy this template with this course code: DE6CJF23A7
  • Add books from Perusall’s Catalog, upload PDFs, and more in your course library
  • Under settings change terminology: i.e. instructor → facilitator; student → participant
  • Adjust language in Getting Started

Perusall course:

  • Consider using the pre-populated Learning Resources Hub folder for additional resources outside of book content (i.e. related links or interesting sub-topics)
  • Utilize hidden folders to house materials if you’d like to encourage participants to work within assignments as opposed to the course library
  • Leverage participant upload folders such as the pre-populated Participant Generated Resources folder to allow your participants to upload their own work or research
  • Decide which chapters, PDFs, videos and/or other content to include per week or day
  • Adjust dates and deadlines so that participants only see that week or day’s assignment
  • Introduce each week’s reading with videos, pre-quizzes, descriptions, and more
  • Go into each weekly assignment and highlight text to add discussion prompts.

Begin your course:

Invite participants to your course using the Participant enrollment code located in Settings > Access or share with them your Participant enrollment URL.
