As educators, we know how valuable your time is. That is why we’ve introduced several course management enhancements to further simplify key tasks and help you manage your course more efficiently.
Link directly to course content
Instructors and students can now link directly to any content in their library. While Perusall has always allowed links to external websites or pages, instructors now have the ability to link internally to specific materials within their course. This feature is also available for students, who can use it to reference items in the Course Library.
How it works:
When writing a comment or assignment instructions, click the "insert link" icon in the toolbar. Select "Course library item," choose the relevant document, and add your link text. The link will automatically appear in your comment.
Note: Items hidden from students will remain invisible to them.
Totals instead of averages
To support courses where assignments may not all carry the same weight, the summary column in your gradebook can now calculate total points across all assignments, instead of an average. Students’ total scores can be synced back to your LMS as a single gradebook column, instead of syncing average scores.
How it works:
To send totals instead of averages, adjust the Grade Sync settings. Under the Gradebook summary column in Settings, select "Total Score."
Replace content without losing comments
When you need to make minor edits to a document, such as correcting a typo or updating office hours, there's no need to delete and re-upload the file. You can now replace the document while keeping all associated student comments intact. This feature allows you to maintain the flow of student work while making necessary changes easily.
How it works:
Select the document in your Course Library, click "Replace file," and upload the revised document. The new version will automatically replace the old one, and all comments will be preserved.
Reuse assignments without extra work
You may want students to revisit an assignment later in the semester and engage with the content from a new perspective. Instead of uploading a second copy of the document, you can now set the visibility date to be later in the course term. Additionally, you can also have students revisit textbook assignments – which was not possible prior to this improvement. Note: the only work that will count towards the second assignment is the work completed after the visibility date.
How it works:
Instructors set the visibility date of the second assignment to be after the deadline of the first. Then the second assignment counts work done starting at its visibility date.
